Macmillan Cancer Support was selected in 2011 as IRIS’ first ever official charity partner following a vote amongst IRIS employees. Over the course of twelve months, IRIS employees worked together to raise money for Macmillan through a wide variety of fundraising events, from cake bakes to raffles, culminating with 'Team IRIS' flying to Africa to climb the summit of the world’s highest free-standing mountain, Kilimanjaro, raising over £35,000 for Macmillan.
In total, IRIS employees, together with the help of their Community Champions, friends and families, raised an amazing total of over £89,000.
Paul Sparkes, Product Director, IRIS Accounting & Business Solutions, said: “This was the first time that IRIS had chosen to support one charity and everyone at IRIS is incredibly proud to have been involved in raising so much money for such a worthwhile charity.”
Lynda Thomas, Director of Fundraising for Macmillan, comments: “We would like to offer a huge vote of thanks to all our friends in IRIS. They have been a truly outstanding partner to work with and achieved so much over the course of the past 16 months to support our work for people affected by cancer.”
Lynda continues: “We are particularly grateful to the IRIS Community Champions who have done an incredible job in raising money in brilliantly innovative and wonderfully fun and inspiring ways. Their achievement of nearly £90,000 is a credit to all involved and will make a considerable difference to our work for cancer patients, their families and loved ones.”
